In October 2009 The Telecommunication Education & Skills Standards Organisation (TESSO) joined the NZICT Group as a Community of Interest.

The purpose of the charter is to work together to develop the ICT industry and its participants, with the goal to leverage quality ICT to grow the ICT industry and increase New Zealand’s global competitiveness.

The objectives of the charter are to:

  • Create new opportunities for our respective members to collaborate at joint Members’ meetings and other purpose created events.
  • Provide an opportunity for the TESSO and its Members to provide input into the NZICT industry policy platform, including the identification of new areas for development.
  • Provide an opportunity for NZICT to consult with TESSO in its policy development, including the areas of the identification of skills and standards, and the promotion and development of training and qualifications.
  • Provide the basis for ongoing dialogue for developing other mutual opportunities including sponsorship, programmes of work and promotions.

The NZICT Group works with other organisations that represent specific ICT industry sectors to promote interaction and discussion on particular topics.

The intent of this collaboration and co-ordination is to better enable both organisations to meet the objective of their respective constitutions through identifying common areas of interest and development where the work effort relating to a specific area can be shared.

These organisations join as a General Member of the NZICT Group and are called ‘Communities of Interest’ (COI).

Together, the NZICT Group and the Community of Interest draft a document of understanding that details the areas of focus, and purpose and objectives for the COI.
