On July 27 2009, the Auckland ICT joined the NZICT Group as a Community of Interest.

The purpose is to enable Auckland ICT and the NZICT Group to work together to develop the ICT industry and its participants, with the goal to enhance the country’s competitiveness for the betterment of all New Zealanders, and the growth of the ICT industry.

 The objectives are to:

  • Create new opportunities for our respective members to collaborate at Members’ meetings and other purpose created events.
  • Provide an opportunity for the Auckland ICT and its Members to provide input into the NZICT industry policy platform, including the identification of new areas for development.
  • Provide an opportunity for NZICT to consult with Auckland ICT in its policy development, including the areas of skills and education; innovation and productivity; broadband infrastructure development; government procurement; regulations (including the Copyright Act and patent legislation); and industry standards.
  • Provide the basis for ongoing dialogue for developing other mutual opportunities including sponsorship, programmes of work and promotions.

Wireless Community

Welcome to the NZICT Wireless Forum.  Our goal is to support and facilitate economic growth in New Zealand through wireless and broadband innovation. We undertake this in three ways, by supporting:

  1. The Innovation Conversation: The Forum is a platform for members and industry to network and collaborate on a monthly basis through its Wireless Wednesdays in both Auckland and Wellington.
  2. In fact, we have numerous examples of innovative ideas that have been conceived at a Wireless Wednesday event, and are now in the global market as a commercial product or service.

  3. Collaboration: No one company, or group, has all the capability required to get to market in today’s chaotic world. As such, the Forum enthusiastically embraces networking and collaborating with other industry/user groups, government and non-government organisations to facilitate Wireless and Broadband Innovation.
  4. We also link to New Zealand Trade and Enterprise to support the internationalisation of innovations conceived by our members, and to integrate with their programmes that support the creation and growth of New Zealand technology companies.

  5. Showcase: In addition, as a show case for Wireless and Broadband innovation, the forum supports an annual event, ‘Convergence Oceania’.
  6. This event is designed to provide a space to show case New Zealand’s innovation, facilitate the conversation between industry, research and education in Wireless and Broadband technologies, and provide a platform for multinational technology vendors to show case the latest and emerging technologies in New Zealand.

The Wireless Forum has been established in the spirit of mutual co-operation so that parties interested in learning, solution development, collaboration and networking are able to share information within both the New Zealand and global economy. Our members include:

  • Business
  • Developers
  • Vendors
  • Carriers
  • Educators
  • Researchers
  • Consumers
  • Media
  • Technology Exporters
