Terms of Reference
The NZ SKA Industry Consortium (NZSKAIC) was established in August 2009, through agreement of the following Terms of Reference with the New Zealand Ministry of Economic Development (MED):
- Identifying the niches which will provide big opportunities for New Zealand industry and research which the SKA could result in, and develop a plan for how New Zealand industry goes after the opportunities.
- Supporting NZ industry to get appropriately-connected to the project - through procurement opportunities and longer-term planning.
- Fostering a collaborative government/industry/research approach to New Zealand’s engagement in the SKA.
- Championing national industry engagement through regular industry events and fora.
- Encouraging collaboration between New Zealand firms and multinationals.
- Advising the Government on the Government’s efforts to:
- Provide industry access to current and future SKA project opportunities.
- Maximise business opportunities and economic benefits to New Zealand through input into project governance and procurement arrangements for the SKA.
- Foster an understanding of the expertise of New Zealand industry capability and research capability, through a continuously updated capability register.
- Participating in the work of ASKAIC.
