NZICT continues to grow, partners with NZ Health IT Cluster

NZICT, the group that represents the supply side of ICT in New Zealand, has signed a community of interest agreement with the New Zealand Health IT Cluster.

New Zealand Health I.T.The New Zealand Health IT Cluster is a vibrant alliance of over 70 vendors and supporting members.

With common interests, NZICT and the NZ Health IT Cluster will work together on a range of issues to benefit their respective and shared constituencies.

“The health sector is a key area of focus for NZICT and our members as we seek to collaborate with the Government and District Health Boards to improve productivity and drive innovation.  “New Zealand has historically been recognized as a global health ICT leader, and we will work with the Cluster to regain this position”, said Brett O’Riley, Chief Executive officer of NZICT Group.

Mr O’Riley added that the Cluster and its members were recognised as leaders of innovation and that the formation of the new National Health Board would provide renewed focus on sector wide ICT driven productivity.  Together we will work to drive the sort of change that is critical to improving performance in the health sector, and build vibrant NZ ICT companies with intellectual property they can turn into foreign exchange earnings.

Health IT Cluster Chief Executive Dougal McKechnie said “Forming this alliance with NZICT is the latest example of our emphasis on providing increased value to our members.  “The Cluster and NZICT will work closely on a range of issues including industry productivity, engagement and procurement processes and mechanisms, workforce development, and business capability.”

Not even a year old, NZICT is fast becoming the powerhouse group representing the voice of the ICT industry.  With 75 members and more to join shortly, NZICT now represents the majority of large to medium ICT companies in New Zealand.
