Aust/NZ Science Workshop in Square Kilometre Array Data and Signal Processing

The Australian/New Zealand Workshop on SKA Data and Signal Processing provides a forum for the professionals from New Zealand and Australian academia and industry to discuss the issues and challenges in data and signal processing as well as other topics of advanced computing and networking related to the SKA and radio astronomy in general. The workshop aims establishing a framework for New Zealand research and industry in engaging with Australian SKA Research and Development related to data and signal processing.

The format for the workshop will be for presentations in the morning and early afternoon with a brief panel discussion to conclude.

Topics include:

* Computer architectures for ASKAP and SKA data processing

* Peta-scale data intensive research challenges for the SKA

* Signal processing and data volume challenges when studying the Universe at high time resolution

* Computational challenges in Transient Radio Emission Array Detectors

* Dr Melanie Johnston-Hollitt, Chair NZ SKA Research and Development Consortium, Leader Radio Astronomy Group Victoria University of Wellington

* Dougal Watt, Chair NZ SKA Industry Consortium, Chief Technologist IBM New Zealand

* Dr Slava Kitaev, Director of Centre for Reconfigurable Systems, Auckland University of Technology

The meeting is generously sponsored by the New Zealand Foundation for Research, Science & Technology and registration has been waived, however participants are asked to indicate their attendance by Monday 8th of February for catering purposes.

The workshop will be available in live video via the Internet. Interactive participation, and if required presentations, via the Internet will be also available for people not able to attend in person. Please enquire at the time of registration for technical details.
